Courier work in Kraków is a dense centre, tourists, students, and cobbles that punish shoulders harder than rate ads. Community ranges sit around 42–52 PLN/h gross during active riding — sometimes above Warsaw on paper, on a smaller city scale. Not a salary and not a platform guarantee. Country context: how much a courier earns in Poland in 2026.
This guide is for people who want to ride in Kraków or compare it with the capital and Wrocław. Platforms, transport (the Old Town dislikes cars), tourist peaks, costs, and a fleet-partner start. We do not quote fleet commissions — ask in the contract. Directory: partners.
Kraków feeds riders who can handle pedestrian zones, tenement lifts, and weekend tourist waves. It punishes people who try to “drive the Rynek” the way they drive Białołęka.
Platforms in Kraków
Usually Glovo, Uber Eats, Wolt, often Bolt Food. Zones and vehicle modes show up at signup. Glovo adds shops and pharmacies; Wolt is often higher hourly in typical conditions; Uber Eats can be strong in dense windows without a single official range we can state as fact. Guide: Glovo work. Wolt: Wolt courier pay.
Multi-apping tempts on tourist weekends. Read the partner contract first: exclusivity while online sometimes sits in the paperwork.
Pay: about 42–52 PLN/h indicative
The 42–52 PLN per hour band is active riding in typical Kraków conditions, not an empty Monday on the edge of Nowa Huta. Peak and bad weather can run about 1.5–2× a dead afternoon. Mechanics: courier hourly pay.
Peak shifts, indicative: 4 h ≈ 100–200 PLN, 6 h ≈ 150–300, 8 h ≈ 250–350. The top of the band is supported by density in the Old Town, Kazimierz, and Zabłocie — unless you wait 20 minutes because the kitchen cannot keep up with a tourist bus. Monthly 5,000–8,500 PLN gross is realistic with regular peak hours; 10,000+ usually means a lot of hours and a capable e-bike, not a day-one promise.
Students (UJ, AGH, UEK) and tourists spread demand differently than Wola offices: lunch is often shorter, evening and weekend longer, a tourist Sunday can surprise. Do not copy a Warsaw timetable 1:1.
Transport: cobbles, hills, pedestrian core
The Old Town and Planty are bike and e-bike country. A car in the tight centre is parking, bans, and time you will not get back. Kazimierz: short trips, cobbles, tourists in the roadway. Podgórze and Zabłocie: the Vistula, bridges, a bit more air. Krowodrza: flats and campuses. Nowa Huta: distance — a scooter or car starts to make economic sense; a bike “across all of Huta” is often a punishment, not a strategy.
- Bike / e-bike — default start. Hills (Zwierzyniec, the mounds, Salwator) eat legs; the battery eats cost but holds pace.
- E-scooter / scooter — bridges and outer districts. Cobbles and tram tracks are a risk, not an Instagram backdrop.
- Car — Nowa Huta, Skotniki, bad weather, larger orders. At the Rynek it almost always loses to a bike if you count minutes, not seat comfort.
Walk-up tenements in Kazimierz are fourth gear on the stairs with a bag. That is Kraków hourly pay, not “1.2 km so it is easy”.
When to go out
Lunch 11:00–14:00 lives where offices and campuses are, not only by St. Mary’s. Evening 17:00–22:00 plus the tourist weekend. Friday–Saturday: restaurants and a night tail in Kazimierz. Sunday: tourists + closed shops = more food from venues. Rain lifts demand; wet cobbles lift risk. If the zone is silent, leave the Rynek for Krowodrza or Zabłocie instead of standing by the basilica “because that is what new riders do”.
Costs, first week, season
Tyres and tubes die faster on cobbles. E-bike: where you charge between shifts if you live in Dębniki and ride Kazimierz. Centre parking is expensive and annoying. Ask for the partner settlement in the contract. A commute from the edge to the first drop is unpaid time; Kraków is smaller than Warsaw, not zero.
Days 1–2: 3–4 hours in Kazimierz or inner city you know on foot. Days 3–4: lunch vs evening in the same slice. Day 5: compare apps. Days 6–7: Friday or Saturday evening. Do not start in Nowa Huta by car “because Kraków is big” until pins actually send you there. Documents: to start. Partners: directory. General start: how to start as a courier.
Compare Warsaw (40–50 PLN/h) and Wrocław (35–45). Summer and long weekends fill the Rynek with people who order and people who block the way. Winter: ice on cobbles. Phone: mount, power bank, offline map inside a tenement.
Sample Kraków windows (indicative)
A calculator, not a guarantee. 42–52 PLN/h only when you are actually moving, not circling the Cloth Hall.
- Lunch in Krowodrza / by AGH, 3 hours, e-bike. Around 45 PLN/h × 3 ≈ 135 PLN gross.
- Friday Kazimierz, 5 hours, bike. Dense pins, slower on cobbles. 5 × 42 ≈ 210 PLN at the lower active band.
- Tourist Sunday, Old Town, 4 hours. Demand is there; crossing is slower.
- Nowa Huta, car, 4 hours off-peak. Easy to fall under 35 PLN/h after fuel.
Log the district next to the amount. Kraków punishes averaging the Rynek with Huta. Mechanics: courier hourly pay.
What not to do in month one
Do not buy a scooter on credit because a group claims “300 PLN a day”. Do not pay an activation deposit without a contract. Do not reject every trip outside Kazimierz if acceptance affects your schedule. If after two weeks of notes your average sits clearly under 42 PLN/h, change hour and vehicle before you change city.
Tenements, gate codes, and a “short trip”
In Kraków a kilometre on the map lies often. Intercom gates, walk-up stairs, tourists in passages, bikes carried because courtyards are closed. The 42–52 PLN/h band assumes those minutes do not eat half the shift. Keep codes in your phone. In Kazimierz ask for the courtyard door. In the Old Town get off the bike before the crowd. After the third 15-minute restaurant wait at the Rynek, change district.
FAQ
Is 42–52 PLN/h a guarantee?
No. Indicative for active riding. Week one, a weak window, and a car in the centre sit lower. Not an employment wage.
Can I drive the Old Town?
Rules vary (zones, deliveries); in practice a bike usually wins time. Check current access rules before you buy a “car strategy” from a chat group.
Do I need Polish?
Apps are multilingual. Venues and stairwells are often Polish. The right to work does not depend on language.
Where is a legal start?
Platform signup and a fleet partner if needed. Compare the directory; do not pay an “app entry” deposit without a contract.
