Getting started

How to start working as a food delivery courier in Poland

Working as a food delivery courier is one of the easiest ways to start earning quickly in Poland. You do not need special education or prior experience. A smartphone, suitable transport, and documents that allow you to work legally in the country are enough to get started.

How food delivery works

A courier receives orders through the delivery platform's mobile app. After accepting an order, you pick it up at the restaurant and deliver it to the customer at the specified address.

Most orders are assigned automatically. Earnings depend on the number of completed deliveries, distance, working hours, demand, and the rules of each platform.

What you need to get started

Before registering, prepare:

  • A smartphone with internet access.
  • A bicycle, e-bike, scooter, or car.
  • A bank account for payouts.
  • Documents confirming your right to work in Poland.
  • A thermal bag (in some cases provided by a partner or platform).

Choosing a platform

Several major delivery services operate in Poland:

  • Glovo
  • Wolt
  • Uber Eats
  • Bolt Food

Each platform has its own rules, pay model, and courier requirements. In many cities, couriers work on several apps at once to receive more orders.

Working through a partner or directly

There are two main cooperation models:

Through a partner (Fleet Partner)

A partner helps with registration, paperwork, and payouts. This option is especially popular among new couriers and foreign workers.

Through your own business (JDG) — rarely relevant

The courier registers sole proprietorship and cooperates with the platform directly. Experienced couriers who want full control over finances usually choose this path.

Choosing transport

Food delivery can be done with different types of transport.

Bicycle

Best for short distances and dense city areas. Minimal maintenance costs.

E-bike

One of the most popular options among couriers. Lets you complete more orders in less time without fuel costs.

Scooter

A good choice for large cities and longer routes.

Car

Suitable for areas with long distances between orders, but involves extra fuel, parking, and maintenance costs.

How much you can earn

Income depends on the city, season, weather, and hours worked.

Typically, the highest earnings are available:

  • During lunch and dinner peaks.
  • On weekends.
  • During bad weather.
  • In large cities with high delivery demand.

The better a courier knows the city and plans working hours, the higher the potential income.

How to choose a partner

Before starting cooperation, consider:

  • Commission size.
  • Payout speed.
  • Support availability.
  • Equipment rental terms.
  • Reviews from other couriers.
  • Whether they operate in your city.
